Date: Saturday, September 7
Location: Raetihi Royal Theatre
On Saturday, September 7th, The Royal Theatre will host the world premiere of The Engine's Tale, an award-winning film by independent filmmaker David Sims. This unique film, narrated by Peter Fry in a charming "West Country" accent, tells the story from the perspective of a 150-year-old L class steam locomotive, L509, which played a crucial role in New Zealand’s railway history.
Inspired by the 100-year celebration of the North Island Main Trunk Railway, The Engine's Tale captures untold stories and anecdotes from the days leading up to the railway's completion in 1908. It's a captivating "pioneer frontier melodrama" that offers a fresh narrative style.
With the theatre's new surround sound system, this premiere promises an immersive experience. Bring the kids along for a real-life twist on Thomas the Tank Engine—a fairy tale with a surprise ending!
