Kia Ora. Welcome to Ruapehu

Tūkino Ski Field

Ski where the sun shines first!

Wild open spaces, fantastic people, and relaxed vibes.

Welcome to Tūkino - a club-operated, lesser-known ski field located on the eastern slopes of Mt Ruapehu at Tongariro National Park. Tūkino ski field will be opening on the 16th of July, the second week of the schoo holidays! Accesse to Tūkino is off the Desert Rd, between Waiouru and Turangi, via a 4WD vehicle.

With 170 hectares of ski area, over 300m of vertical drop, and slopes sheltered from the prevailing Westerly winds, Tūkino is a welcoming place with friendly crew, camaraderie and without the crowds. Tūkino is a club ski field, operated and maintained by dedicated club members –all for the love of snow sports.

Tukino Skifield has 3 "Nutcracker" tow rope lifts in operation, plus Cat Skiing to the top of the field when available. Nutcracker Belts are supplied free as part of your Lift Pass for the Tukino Skifield. You must have a valid Lift Pass, or Season Pass to use the Tukino Skifield lifts.

Free Early Bird Season Passes for under 10’s!!! Tukino is a family oriented skifield and this year we would like to offer free season passes for children of every Adult Early Bird Season Pass purchaser when these purchased in the same transaction.

The Tūkino Ski Field is open to the public and visitors are most welcome to visit Tūkino to ski, snowboard or just play around in the snow. When it’s time to recharge, sit back in front of a log fire at Tūkino Cafe and enjoy the scenery and camaraderie of others in our little spot of paradise at Tūkino.
